My love for music started at an early age by singing with my brother and playing the piano in the Western Oaks Baptist Church in Bethany, Oklahoma. My love for the church and God's people was greatly influenced by my pastor Bro. Jack Thompson. It was always my desire as a child to sing with my family and serve the Lord through music. I always appreciated close family harmony and the ministry of music evangelism. Some of my favorite singers were not the mainstream gospel families of the day as much as others like The Drewetts, The Jerry McDonald Family, The Crosswhites, and a few others. As a young boy, I always noticed any young ladies that could sing and play the piano. Little did I realize that God was already charting my course in a direction to give me the desires of my heart in my future life's mate. My teenage years were filled with ministry opportunities with West Branch of the Bill Rice Ranch located in Flagstaff, AZ and other serving opportunities through my local church. After graduating from my Christian high school, I attended Pensacola Christian College where I met Jennifer Isaacs in my senior year of 1998.
Jennifer was born and raised in a preacher's home. She attended the First Baptist Church of Stilwell, OK for thirteen years under the ministry of Dr. Jack Stanley as her pastor. While attending the church's Christian school, she was learning to play piano and use her talents in her local church as well. In 1993, her family moved to Cherokee Village, AR to attend and assist in the ministry of Friendship Baptist Church. Bro. Mike Stanley, who was the son and assistant pastor under Dr. Jack Stanley of First Baptist Church of Stilwell, OK, felt the call of God to begin a new local New Testament church which is now known as Friendship Baptist Church in Highland, AR. The Isaacs were there in the work for a few years and then her father, Bro. David Isaacs, became the pastor of another Baptist church in Arkansas. Once her father became a full-time pastor, Jennifer became the church pianist and helped serve in other areas of her father's ministry.
In 1998, Jennifer and I were on our second date in the Varsity Commons at PCC having supper. During that evening, Jennifer asked me what I thought the Lord would have me do with my life. I proceeded to tell her that I was an accounting major and business management minor but my real passion was singing. Her eyes lit up because she was a music major studying voice. She also told me that she had some friends from Eufaula, OK that she had known her whole life that traveled and sang and performed “Back To Calvary” revival meetings across the country. From that moment on, our love for music and our love for one another began to grow since we both knew and loved The Jerry McDonald Family.
We were married in December of 1999 and moved from Oklahoma City back to Arkansas in August of 2000. We became part of the staff of Friendship Baptist Church in Highland, AR in November of 2001. For the next fourteen years, we worked in the music ministry of the local church. Our hearts rejoiced with the opportunity of serving the Lord and His people in leading the adult choir, children's choir, and special music. During our time at Friendship Baptist, we were able to see the Lord leading our own children into different avenues of music ministry as well. Elaina, our oldest daughter, started singing with us at the age of 4. Her first song that she sang with us was a dream come true. As our children grew, we watched all of them begin to sing and serve the Lord with us in song. After much prayer and God's leading, our family felt the call of God to relocate to Paducah, KY in June of 2015. While in Kentucky, the Lord allowed our children to learn different instruments and grow in their musical abilities. On January 1, 2020, our family moved back to the great state of Arkansas. We are currently based out of Prairie Grove, AR and sent out of the Washington County Baptist Church in Lincoln, AR. Our pastor is Bro. David Isaacs.
We look toward the future with great expectation for what the Lord may have next. We have learned to meet each and every day with a song in our hearts and praises upon our lips for our Lord and Savior. Please pray for the Smith family as we travel and for safety on our way. It is our hearts desire to uplift the name of Christ and minister to His church.
